Sullivan Park Expansion Phase II


Phase I of The Sullivan Park Redevelopment Project achieved goals expressed in the CRA Plan of activating the Sullivan Park & Cove Area and implemented many recommendations of the ULI TAP Advisory Panel Report. Additionally, the ULI TAP Report highlighted other potential opportunities for redevelopment and expansion of the site through property acquisition, upland building, and the inclusion of interpretive and educational exhibits (see Figure 1 below). 

UPDATE: 
In May 2018, the Community Redevelopment Agency Board approved the contract of purchase of the Greater Deerfield Beach Chamber of Commerce located at 1601 E Hillsboro Blvd, Deerfield Beach, Fl. 33441. This acquisition allows the park to expand west; thereby, increasing the feasibility for a variety of redevelopment options.

January 2019 CRA Board Workshop. Staff the CRA Board through a discussion of preliminary conceptual options for Phase 2 of the Sullivan Park Expansion Project.

Overwhelming community interest in project plans guided the CRA Board to direct staff to hold a second public workshop

June 2019,  Public Workshop II was scheduled for August 19, 2019, at the Hillsboro Technology Center. 

UPDATE: 
August 19, 2019, a public workshop was held at the Hillsboro Technology Center. Over 50 residents were present to provide input on Phase II of the Sullivan Park Expansion. Note*: This project is still in the very early stages. More community outreach and public input opportunities to come in the future.

UPDATE: 
September - December 2019 in person as well as online survey made available for community input. Staff surveyed the public at Sullivan Park, at events, District Meetings as well as provided an online survey from October to December 3rd, 2019.

UPDATE:
December 10 2019-Bermello Ajamil presented the CRA Board 4 baseline alternatives regarding Phase II of the Sullivan Park Expansion Project. The CRA Board gave staff general direction regarding Alternative 2 being favorable in terms of orientation and structure. Staff directed to prepare preliminary feasibility and cost studies. 

UPDATE:
May 2020-Bermello Ajamil was selected as the design firm for Phase II of Sullivan Park redevelopment 

UPDATE:
April 2021-CRA Board approved and selected a design for Phase II of the Sullivan Park Expansion, the Sullivan Park Facility. This facility will serve as the western anchor of Sullivan Park. The selected design maintains the color palette and aesthetic of the current buildings in Sullivan Park, yet elevates the project area. A key internal component is the flex space that can be used for community gatherings, trainings, conferences, educational workshops, and classrooms.
