City of Deerfield Beach Proposed Amendment to Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds

The City of Deerfield Beach is a recipient of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Department of Housing and Urban Development and is required  to provide citizens with reasonable notice of and an opportunity to comment on an Amendment to the FY 2019-2020 Annual Action Plan at  http://www.deerfield-beach.com/1769/Approved-Docs (the “Amendment”). The public comment period extends five (5) days from May 12, 2020 and end May 18, 2020.  Citizens are encouraged to review and comment on the proposed Amendment during the five-day comment period via email at jsalas@deerfield-beach.com or call 954-480-4464.

 PROPOSED AMENDMENT

 Micro-Enterprise Grant Assistance Program- $75,000.00

The proposed Amendment will assist a minimum of 15 Micro-Enterprise businesses located in Deerfield Beach. Initial funding of $75,000 for the Commercial Façade Program was included in the 2019-2020 Annual Plan; however, funds are being re-allocated to the Micro-Enterprise Grant Assistance Program. The Micro-Enterprise Grant Program is designed to support small businesses in the City of Deerfield Beach being impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. The program will be funded through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) FY 2019-2020 funds.  The COVID-19 Micro-Enterprise Grant Assistance Program will provide up to $5,000.00 in financial assistance to businesses to achieve the following objectives: Meet basic obligations, business lease or mortgage payments, utilities payments, monthly debt payments, business payroll, business inventory expenses to remain viable, and to encourage business to maintain their labor force. 

The City of Deerfield Beach City Commission is scheduled to hold a Commission Meeting on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 and the proposed Amendment is on the Agenda for Commission’s consideration. The Commission Meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on May 19, 2020, utilizing communications media technology with elected officials and City staff participating through video conferencing. Interested parties are encouraged to log-in at http://www.deerfield-beach.com/1554/Meetings-Agendas  and participate.  Public comments for the meeting may also be provided via email to web.clerk@deerfield-beach (please include your name and address for the record).
