COVID-19 Update: Business Closures

The City of Deerfield Beach is working diligently with County, State, and Federal officials to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) recommends that states with community spread should close certain businesses to slow the spread and transmission of the virus. Broward County currently has the highest number of confirmed Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Florida. Therefore, in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order 20-68, City Executive Order 2020-01, and City Emergency Order No. 2020-01, the City is announcing additional closures, effective 10 PM, March 20, 2020, until April 17, 2020.

Please note the following closures and restrictions:

  • Effective March 20, 2020 at 10 PM and continuing through April 17, 2020 all bars, nightclubs, taverns, pubs, cocktail lounges, breweries, dance halls, movie theaters, halls for hire, auditoriums, bowling alleys, video arcades, and sports and entertainment facilities, including but not limited to such establishments contained within a hotel or other enclosed structure, shall be closed.
  • Effective March 20, 2020, at 10 PM and continuing through April 17, 2020 all restaurants, cafeterias, and other food service establishments shall cease all on-premises dining. Such establishments may continue to operate their kitchens for drive-thru, delivery, take-out, and exterior pick-up food services during their normally permitted hours.
  • All public gatherings of any type, whether organized or otherwise, of greater than 10 persons are prohibited. Grocery stores, gas stations, convenience stores, retail stores, banks, credit unions, financial institutions, hardware stores, auto supply stores, hospitals, healthcare and medical facilities, pharmacies, drug stores, medical supply companies, land or facilities owned and managed by Broward County, the Broward County School Board, the North Broward Hospital District, the State of Florida, and the Federal Government, are exempt from this paragraph.
  • Please be reminded that the Deerfield Beach Aquatics Complex, Constitution Park Community Center, Highlands Community Center, Hillsboro Community Center, Johnny Tigner Center, Pioneer Park Tennis Center, the Sullivan Park Splash Pad, and the Middle School Athletic Complex are closed until further notice.
  • Please be reminded that all public beach areas east of the beach boardwalk are closed until further notice. Lifeguards and law enforcement are on duty to ensure that the public is aware and adheres to these beach restrictions. On-street parking and the Main Beach Parking Lot are closed.
  • Please be reminded that the Center for Active Aging, the Alzheimers and Adult Daycare Center, and the Preschool/Childcare Center, located at 227 NW 2 Street are closed until further notice.
